A Brief Introduction

Welcome to potato baby. I'm one of the guys who will be making contributions to this site on a damn near never basis, but I figured I would do the polite thing and introduce myself to everyone here. My name is Chaz. Where I live is not important; as with many things in my life, that's just another arbitrary fact that is going to change soon enough. I work for the Navy, as a reactor operator. I tend to keep to myself, live a quiet life, and play lots of video games.

What you can expect out of me; quite honestly, not a whole lot. It's not often I get into the whole writing mood very much. It's not because I don't want to write, it's just that when I find time to write, I would rather do something else.

Like video games.

And sleep. Sleep seems to rank a whole lot higher than it should.

But, when I do write, it will tend to be whatever has been on my mind recently. I often think about putting my thoughts to writing, thinking someone else may find them interesting or whatever. Sometimes, what I will write for Potato Baby will be funny. Other times, maybe not. It will often be cynical, as I tend to be. It will often be rants, because that's a nice easy catchall category that is easy to write for. By the way, if you're one of those people out there who like to read witty things online and nod and wink and say, 'hey, this guy thinks everyone's an idiot. I agree!' …you're probably one of the people I don't like. Go away.

In fact, chances are, I don't like you already. Don't take it personally; I just happen to remember the way things used to be online. Before AOL. Some of you know what I'm talking about. And frankly, the new culture that has come to be online, while at times insightful, intelligent, and generally decent human beings, there's an awful large number of people out there who have nothing better to do than annoy the rest of us. Get a life.

I should try to stay on topic.

What I write… I write what I think. I try to write in the truest form possible, from myself, for myself. I really don't care what anyone else's opinion is; I'm presenting my own opinion, not anyone else's. I do not care whose toes I step on. If someone else has a valid point of view, I will listen to it. In fact, I can even be convinced to change my point of view. It's happened before. However, if you're one of those people who is easily offended, or one of those violently outspoken can't-be-wrong types, I am not interested in listening to you. My life's too short to deal with annoying people.

If, however, you came here wanting to just read something, see someone else's opinion, maybe find something funny or insightful every once in a while, welcome.

I make no attempt to edit myself; that's a roundabout way of saying that if you are a parent, I don't strongly recommend your children read what I write. While I also don't go out of my way to be explicit, vulgar or profane, I also don't produce children's reading. If you are a child and you are reading this, I don't know what to say. Bravo for figuring out how to sucker your parents into letting you read anything? I don't know.

Hell, I forgot what I was originally intending to write about here. At any rate, welcome to Potato Baby. Try not to step on Dan's ego on your way out. [Editor's Note: It's a small target, but seems to get hit a lot anyway. Maybe people enjoy the challenge?]
