What has happened to hats? It used to be that a gentleman would wear a nice hat outside. He'd take it off when he crossed a building's threshold, because that's the polite thing to do. He'd have several different hats for different occasions and outfits. Casual hats, formal hats, golf hats (heaven forbid) top hats, riding caps, derbys, even a turban or a fez!. He'd even keep his nice hats in a hat box to keep them safe, because he valued his hat. Now, not only do you see few people wearing a hat at all, the ones that do are wearing baseball caps. These hats are usually tacky, and advertise for the company they bought the cap from. They think it's cool to wear it sideways or backwards. I admit, some people look good in ball caps, and there are times when it's the appropriate hat to wear, but I'd rather see a real hat on a head any day.
